Fortinos Origins

In 1961, the first Fortinos was born in Hamilton, Ontario under the ownership of Italian immigrant John Fortino. They began with a mission to provide the freshest ingredients, competitive prices, and a clean environment.

The business prospered under John’s leadership and the support from family and loyal customers. They are proud to be one of the leading grocery stores in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.

Fortinos is infamous for their delicious hanging sides of beef. They won’t give out any meat that has not been Fortinos approved for quality, marbling, and flavour. This keeps customers coming back for more!

Fortinos is a partner of President’s Choice and provides customers the access to the PC Optimum Card and the PC Express service. The PC Optimum card gives shoppers the option to earn points and save money on everyday products. Points can be used to redeem prizes and make purchases at any Fortinos location.

Fortinos wants customers to experience tastes from all over the world and particularly from their Italian roots. They offer a large selection of imported Italian groceries, cheese, meats, and spices. In addition, they have a huge selection of foods and spices from various other international products.

Fortinos & Fighting Hunger

Fortinos is a proud supporter of the President’s Choice Children's Charity and is on a mission to feed 1 million children annually by 2025. They make large financial and food donations to the charity each year to feed hungry children.

Education is another important focus of Fortinos charitable contributions. They want to help kids learn about proper nutrition and make healthy choices when eating. This has led to numerous programs being implemented to visit schools and teach students on healthy eating.
