Well, yes, gloves: safety first, right? Heatproof gloves are essential to anyone grilling for longer periods of time, especially with those open charcoal barbecues. A burned steak is bad, but a burned hand is even worse. Barbecuers must wear protection too. Having a nice and durable pair of heatproof (or even heat resistant) gloves is a must for any barbecue enthusiast. More than that, some gloves can also help you avoid cutting yourself by accident when preparing the ingredients. It also makes you look like a professional.
You can argue that this choice is cheating a little bit because we’re talking about 3 tools and not only one. That is true, but we’re considering the entire set as a must-have, and that just can’t be argued against. Our pick here is for the main 3 pieces that manipulate food on the grill: a grill fork, a grill spatula, and grill tongs. But why is that important? Let me give you an example: using a common kitchen fork to flip a burger over is not going to work very well, and the fork can be ruined by the grill’s heat as well.
Having specialized barbecue manipulation implements is not only a must, but it also sounds very cool. Many of them are heat resistant to protect your hands, and can reach inside the grill where the heat is too much to handle. Some of the grilling tool sets out there can get very fancy, with our 3 main tools and 15 other utensils and gadgets. And they are just awesome as a gift idea too.

The last one on our list is actually very important. Cleaning your grill properly is usually overlooked, and it can save you a lot of trouble with the barbecuing - and keep the grill running for longer. When we use any old brush or anything similar to clean the grill, it will ruin the brush and it will (most probably) scratch the grill. This is particularly true for non-stick grills. Also, the brush will just not clean the grill after all. Just use a nice grill metal brush to do the job done better and faster.
